Brazilian Hardwood Decking Built to Outlast the Weather

Ipê, Cumaru, Massaranduba, Garapeira, and Muiracatiara decking from Rare Earth Hardwoods gives builders and homeowners a deck surface that resists rot, insects, and decades of weather — without the maintenance cycle of softwood or composite.

Boards are available in standard profiles and can be milled grooved for hidden-fastener clip systems, so installers aren't stuck face-screwing every board by hand.

These species are naturally resistant to rot, insect attack, fungal decay, and even marine borers and termites, and several — Ipê in particular — commonly carry a Class A fire rating. Tight, dense grain also means a smoother, splinter-free surface underfoot than treated softwood. Left to weather or maintained with periodic oil, a well-built hardwood deck routinely outlasts pressure-treated pine by decades.

Color runs the range of the species list: deep chocolate browns in Ipê and Cumaru, warm reddish tones in Massaranduba and Muiracatiara, and a lighter golden look in Garapeira — all available at wholesale, commercial, and retail volumes.

Decking That Earns Its Cost Over Decades

A hardwood deck costs more up front than pressure-treated pine or composite — and then quietly outlasts both. Sourced through our own Zero Impact Brazil facility and harvested sustainably and ethically, in compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies, it's decking you can spec without a second thought about where the material came from.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Brazilian hardwood decking last?

Species like Ipê and Cumaru are widely reported to last 25 to 40+ years in exterior use with only periodic oiling, thanks to natural density and resistance to rot, insects, and fungal decay — far longer than pressure-treated pine and most composite decking.

Do I need special fasteners for hardwood decking?

Because these woods are so dense, most installers pre-drill for face-screwing or use hidden fastener clip systems designed for hardwood decking. We can mill boards grooved for clip systems on request.

Which species should I choose?

Ipê offers the highest hardness and darkest, most uniform color. Cumaru is a close second in durability at a lower cost. Massaranduba and Muiracatiara bring reddish tones, and Garapeira offers a lighter, golden look. We can help you match species to budget and appearance goals.Get in touch with us. We can explain the benefits of the various species -- some alternativs not listed here.

Is Brazilian hardwood decking available for both large commercial jobs and single residential decks?

Yes — we supply wholesale container volumes to distributors, job-lot orders to commercial builders, and smaller retail quantities for individual deck projects.
